About Us

At bad leg emu we are bold dreamers, with a sense of humor. We believe intentional media can create a shift in thought and action and we seek projects that will add to the solution environmentally or socially.

bad leg emu was formed after a visit to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, north of Sydney in Australia. The day was hot, the forest was quiet and from a distance we heard a soft drumming sound that grew louder. Several meters away we spied two majestic emu’s walking along a parallel footpath that merged into ours. Later we learned that female emu’s emit a deep-throated noise using air sacs in their throats that sounds like drumming. The Emu is also figure in aboriginal mythology: an ancient rock engraving of an emu in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park is positioned under the emu in the sky formed by dust lanes in the Milky way. Today scientists and astronomers study this region of the sky to determine how stars and planets are born. One aboriginal story also explains that the sun came into being when an Emu egg was thrown into the sky.

We were awestruck at these magnificent creatures. One of them appeared to be limping as if it had a bad leg and we wondered how that happened and later told our friends about our meeting two emu’s on the path, one of which had a bad leg. Someone asked, a bad legged emu? Yes, a bad leg emu. bad leg emu productions was born.

Since that time, bad leg emu has come to represent both the majesty and pain we see now in the story of our times and our earth, the yin and yang of life, the healing and positive change that can be led by intentional media, and the necessity of a sense of humor!
